AIR

For many the golden age of the air was a period which included WWII and the decades that followed. Here I have captured some of the most iconic airplanes that have ever flown, many of which hold special places in our hearts and are uniquely evocative of days gone by. Most of these photographs were taken at Warbirds over Wanaka, the largest air display in the southern hemisphere, held every other year on New Zealand’s South Island. I am the first to admit that these photographs are not the sharpest or technically perfect, but it was the spirit of the age and of the aircraft themselves that I wanted to portray. So, though they may be grainy or dark, I the resulting gritty images create a feeling of being there, up in the clouds with an enemy fighter in your sights and your trusty wingman flying beside you. I hope you enjoy them.
